A quick glance through my LJ calendar reveals that I have a tendency to go months on end without saying much of anything, and post frenetically for about two weeks. This seems to be the end of one of those manic periods, so we'll have to see tomorrow whether or not I can break the cycle. I think I put too much pressure on myself to write, and I think this paralyzes me. Especially as I usually prefer to shy away from diary-style recountings of my day -- as I don't do much of interest on a daily basis.

Today I blew off any idea of going to the optometrist -- between various appointments, I couldn't really free an hour or more to sit around her office -- and in fact decided that my eye infection was neither fusarium keratitis nor [livejournal.com profile] rahael syndrome. The eyeball is still a light shade of mauve or puce or one of those colors straight men can't recognize, but the swelling and gooping have completely subsided. After planning to wear glasses all day, I dared instead to attempt some of the daily disposibles my doctor gave me for SCUBA diving. They stayed in for the duration without irritation.

Also today I went to the second of my two free personal trainer sessions at the JCC. I'm not sure how many of the exercises I'll retain; my brain had turned to meringue by the end. There's one thing I do know, though: I'm going to need a bigger water bottle.

If you start repeating the training menus they put you through right away, I'm sure you'll remember them. But big water bottles are good, no matter what!

(I hope your eyes are okay, btw -- that sounds like it might be serious!)

Of course it sounds like it might be serious -- when I do the telling. I have a history of overdramatizing my minor aches.

Me, too. Justin got me this great Wheel of Hypochondria, where you point the arrow at any minor symptom, and it gives you the worst-case scenario (as well as what it most likely is).

I should have one of those, but no matter where the arrow would land, it would point to "cancer."

Hey, at least you know "puce" is in the red bit of the spectrum, not the "chartreuse" family as 97% of the rest of humanity (straight or gay, colonian or post-, pink or brown) mistakenly believes! And on the whole, I think puce is a marginally less shocking color for the usually no-coloured bits of the eye to be than chartreuse (which would seem to imply optical gangrene, or something similarly dreadful).

errata

*coloniaL or post. Also, noN-colored bits of the eye (but I stand by my British "u").

Taking daily doses of antihistamines (Aerius), ingesting copious amounts of water every hour of the day and engaging in strenuous exercise whenever I want to gravitate to the couch and sit in front of the TV have virtually stamped out my hypochondria plethora of illnesses. So you should be OK (might help with the writing thing too) if you 'just add water';-p

Not to brag or anything, but I think I'm pretty conscientiously hydrated.

Your Chia Pet should live into ripe old age, then.
