Symantec would like me to give them money -- my subscription to Norton AntiVirus is about to expire and my 2002 version is no longer supported, supposedly; I would like to tell them to blow it out their ass. Has anyone experience of ClamWin or another free AV program?

Try the Avast home edition. www.avast.com I use it on all of our computers, and even with Graffiti and Darbs surfing god knows where, we've done ok as far as problems.

I will only add that I also do use Avast and have done so for several years.

I suppose that if it can stand up the Graffiti (and Darbs??? say it isn't so!!) test, it can stand up to anything. Of course, we'll know Graffiti is up to no good when he starts being able to read in Cyrillic.

We always know that Graffiti is up to no good. It's kind of a given.

I use the AVG antivirus programme. It's free, and it works very well, as far as I can tell; I've been using it for more than a year, and have had no problems at all. A co-worker who is a big gamer recommended AVG to me over Norton or any other programme.

I will look at AVG then! Thank you.

Oh, get a mac and then you won't have to worry or spend 24 hours of your mother's time getting rid of a virus. (Ok, it was mostly your time but your mom's laptop)

Seriously, do Mac users think we find this useful or interesting? Do they think we've been sitting around all this time using Windows machines because we're unaware of the alternatives?

How's your AirPort doing? How's that new battery treating you? Should I go ahead and make your appointment at the Genius Bar now?

Points well taken! But I still don't get viruses.

Mac lovers--an example of true love, of even unconditional love. No matter what happens, how many pimples (errr bad pixels on the screen), no matter how many times she goes back home to mama (the repair shop), no matter how much you have to spend on new batteries to keep her happy, no matter what, you just keep coming back because you love her
