I have a history of crying during last episodes -- M*A*S*H, of course, and Homicide, but also less obvious choices like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air -- and Buffy finales have a history -- "Becoming" and "The Gift" in particular -- of getting me, but "Chosen" mostly left me dry. However, I did choke up at one moment: when Anya reached down and grasped hold of her inner strength and determination. "Bunnies. Floppy . . . hoppy . . . bunnies."
And now she's dead.
I'm looking forward to her becoming a regular on Angel.

LOL! I needed that laugh! But hey, you never know, right?
And you still might cry on a re-watch. I find I cry more easily once I know how things are going to end up. I don't anticipate more, and have the chance to let it all sink in.
But I admit, I bawled like a baby... :)

Date: 2003-05-21 03:53 pm (UTC)Of course, it may have been the "Bonny Portmore" accompaniment that did it.
Ah, Chosen...
Date: 2003-05-20 10:39 pm (UTC)Kind of hard to get boo-hooey about Spike's sacrifice knowing what we know, but the Spike-Angel rivalry in "Chosen" is delicious knowing what we know.
As I sat and watched, I thought to myself, "I'll be happy with this episode if the original four are left standing." Then thought, "Oh, and Faith, too."
And my five were left standing--Buffy, Giles, Willow, Xander, Faith.
Spike and Anya dead. Just the kind of results I can live with.
Well, except for that pesky thing about television contracts extending for some characters after death. I wonder if Spike has a contract with Wolfram and Hart just like Lilah.
Re: Ah, Chosen...
Date: 2003-05-21 03:28 pm (UTC)Yeah, the WKCS weighed heavily on my mind during the whole protracted dusting. Probably ruined what should have been a beautiful, profound and moving moment. Oh, also ruinous was that it was Spike, and Buffy was standing next to him, and I was like, "I'm bored! Fill the ashtray already!"
Anya, on the other hand, I'll miss, but I don't agree completely with the people who say that she didn't get her due. "B. F, H, B," is going to sustain me for quite a while.
Oh, Anya.
Date: 2003-05-21 03:49 pm (UTC)Not much of an Anya fan, and that running bunnies joke always feel completely flat with me.
But then, I liked Connor's hair, so there's no accounting for taste.
