My new icon
May. 8th, 2003 03:17 amI should be talking about "Home," the marvellous Angel season finale, having now watched it twice, but I'm not yet ready to. Instead, I'm going to talk some more about icons. Though I have not yet gotten a GIF-compiler to do my big revolving Doyle thing, I have settled on a default icon, to your right, or above this if you're doing something with comments. It is, in fact, a Musketeer -- a Xavier Musketeer, to tell the truth. In fact, the image seems to be trademarked, which means I'm probably in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act -- but really? Who among us is not?
I took the image from this page, which took forever to load down to the Xs. I did some minor reworking to get rid of the "X" in the center (meaning I modified trademarked material; they'll never take me alive!). I like the look of it, and will be keeping it until the lawyers come for me.
I especially like the icon because it's a Xavier Musketeer, meaning that it's a Jesuit school . . . I can think of only one Jesuit Musketeer, and that means the handsome but deviously mustachioed figure to the right (or above) is not d'Artagnan, not Athos and certainly not Porthos but my very own namesake! Had I used the old Cleveland Cavaliers logo (because, let's face it, I'm a Cleveland cavalier, and, anyway, I had a better year than them), I could be any old Jacobite, but now I'm representing myself as the Jesuit Musketeer I'm misrepresenting myself as!
Tomorrow I wean myself from exclamation points.
