(no subject)

While I was poking around the Kart00 map for [livejournal.com profile] masqthephlsphr's site, the most far-flung link I came across was this Brazilian weblog. We've had a few Brazilian posters at the board -- Vox Populi comes to mind. I think, but am not sure, that Filipe Rijo (or some such) was also Brazilian, and also that Filipe would better fit the demographics of "Oz," the mastermind behind the Ultimato weblog.

I do not use the word "mastermind" lightly. If you scroll down the weblog (and wait a while for the large number of graphics to load), you will come across one of the most delightful posts I have encountered on the internet. Apparently, Oz discovered this Flash-enabled South Park character generator, and then used it (with an assist from Photoshop) to generate South Park X-Men. He did Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Iceman and Wolverine. I could not resist trying a couple of my own.

Storm

Rogue

And, I couldn't resist.

Professor X

I left a comment on Oz's blog asking if it was all right for me to make an icon using his artwork; I have not yet received permission. (Considering that mine is the only comment not in Portugese, I'm not sure how confident I should be that I'll receive an answer.) The icon has been made and uploaded. I will however hold off on using it for a few days until I've received word back from Oz.

These are great!

I can't wait to try this! I'll pop back in later with whatever I turn up.

I can't wait!

I still think that the Wesley Clark subliminal icon is just too clever for words!!!

[identity profile] dherblay.livejournal.com 2003-10-15 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
If only I can figure out a fannishly-recognizable avatar for "Howard" and "Dean," I will have an icon primary. I've already got John (Carter) and Kerry (Weaver) from E.R.. I suppose that Dennis Kucinich, Richard Gephardt and Joe Lieberman will be out of the running -- as in real life.

I'm considering even branching out into foriegn politics . . . if I can find an Iain. Duncan from Highlander and Agent Smith from The Matrix up against Tony the Tiger and The Facts of Life's Blair.

I do, however, realize that any such iconographic primary will be swayed by the attractiveness of the various fandoms. I also realize that a lot of people are going to look at my Wesley Clark icon, ignore the rebus, and just think I'm attracted to the pretty boys. That's not true!

Ok. Maybe a little.

Very nice! I like Storm. And the Prof is great.

Thank you!

a question

[identity profile] deevalish.livejournal.com 2003-10-15 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
d'H, how were you able to save the created character? I can't seem to figure that part out.

I did a screenshot (thanks Bit!) -- alt-Prnt Scrn on my Wintel, then pasted that into Photoshop.

Thanks! I'm on Mac OS X. I think I'll be asking my IT people about screen shots. Hmm...now I just gotta come up with a plausible "reason" to know this.

Try a Command-Shift-3.

(Shouldn't excuses for this be easier to think up in your line of work than in most?)

Well, it should be easier but I seem to have somehow acquired a little bit of a trouble maker reputation with the IT dept. They like me but they also know that I tend to ask for things outside the norm. A crazy thing called ambition (What's that?) and the ocassional binge of boredom gets in the way. You know what they say about idle hands. ;o)

I've seen a couple people use the generator for their lj icons

When I'm not distracted by that pesky thing called work, I'm fiddling with that South Park generator making pics of the fang gang... soon as I find a decent animated gif generator I'll post 'em.

What's your OS? Bit (my source, apparently, for all graphics related questions) sent me a cute little animation program that works with Windows -- it seems to be created for Windows 95 but works without a hitch on my Win XP machine. Let me know what you're running and I'll mail it to you.

Oh, I'm the source for quite a few graphics-related questions. ;-)

thanks!

I have my harddrive partitioned... Linux for most everything, but WindowsME to do the few things I haven't figured out how to do with Linux (for instance, getting my TV to work as a second monitor so I can watch DVDs).

GIMP does have the ability to make animated gifs, but it's a bit on the esoteric side, so still figuring it out. If I can figure out where the heck I put my old copy of Image Ready, I'll be thrilled... you can do some really nifty animations with that.

I can send the program, but I have several email addresses for you and am not sure which are active.

What's up with this new icon? It's making me batty.
