I had a much longer response on the subject of abortion, which looked at the various combinations of support/non-support for abortion/death penalty, and the varying perspectives they represent. I suppose from a sanctity of life perspective, one might have trouble reconciling a support for legal abortion with opposition to the death penalty, but from the perspective that it's about limiting the power of the state to inimically interfere in the lives of people, there's not much conflict at all.

Of course, I have a sneaking respect for people who do value the sanctity of life so much as to oppose both the death penalty and legal abortion; however, often it's people who support both who end up getting my vote, unfortunately.
