Yes, it was certainly better than most eps this season. And my eyes appreciated the respite from all the rolling they'd been doing during Touched.
But, okay, why were the bad guys digging it up in the first place? Wouldn't leaving it sealed in stone have been the better way of making sure that a slayer won't waltz in and pick it up? Oh, unless the FE is planning to get into Buffy or Faith like she got into Caleb so that he/she/it can wield it.
And speaking of Glaives, I'm blaming Dru's irresponsible time/place/distance shifting with the Glaive for the oh so convenient Egyptian temple popping up just when needed, but never having been seen before. Like Drac's castle.
The EoD Buffy/Spike schmoop was much better than in Touched (Doug and Jane have a far defter touch at making something sweet and romantic without taking it over the top into schmoopland) and the last shot of Spike watching Buffy and Angel kiss, face half-covered in shadow did take me back to the scene where Angel and Dru have taken the Judge to the mall and left him at the factory where he was hiding when the Scoobs came in. So much so, that until I went back and checked, I thought he had the red shirt on again.
I've seen Marita Grabiak's name on a few eps, none I can remember off the top of my head. May even have been Angel eps. I'd rewatched Touched right before this ep and the directing in EoD was miles better. I wasn't made nauseous quite so often by injudicious use of hand held cameras and Marita was much better at making even the most static two shot look interesting. In Touched, which was all about the two shot, one would sit while the other was standing, then every so often they'd trade places like little automata. Like a game they used to play on What's My Line.
If this is even less comprehensible than usual, blame the sleeping pill that's really beginning to kick in.
And if you're feeling a little sleepy yourself, it's the insidious effect of my icon. Can you rest, d'H? Can you rest?
Is this the Paris trip you'll be away for? Give my best to Rah.
That thing is so not a scythe - the Grim Reaper wouldn't touch it if it had bells on
